Lost pet help in Mississauga, Ontario
Who to call first in Mississauga
- Pickup and bylaw enforcement
- Mississauga Animal Services, 905-896-5858
- Where a picked-up animal is held
- City of Mississauga Animal Services Shelter, 735 Central Parkway West, 905-896-5864
The city runs its own animal services and its own shelter, and publishes an online found-pets database. No humane society holds the contract here.
Dogs and cats are not always the same answer. Both species are taken in, but unowned outdoor cats are handled through the City’s trap-neuter-return management programme and a registered cat-colony operator scheme rather than routine impound — approved colony operators are expressly exempt from parts of the Animal Care and Control by-laws.
Out of hours. The City states it responds to animal-related emergencies 24/7 on 905-896-5858. The shelter itself is open Monday to Saturday, 10am–6pm.
Checked against the City of Mississauga’s own missing-pets page on 4 October 2026 — read it yourself. Services and contracts change — confirm before you travel.
