Lost pet help in Langley, British Columbia

Who to call first in Langley

Pickup and bylaw enforcement
City of Langley: the Langley Animal Protection Society under contract to the city. Township of Langley: the Township’s own staff, who took animal control in-house, 604-857-5055
Where a picked-up animal is held
Township of Langley animals: the Patti Dale Animal Shelter in Aldergrove, run by LAPS. City of Langley dogs: LAPS foster homes or pre-approved boarding facilities, not Patti Dale. City of Langley cats: Patti Dale, 604-857-5055

The City of Langley and the Township of Langley are separate municipalities and, since a December 2025 agreement, they no longer share one arrangement. LAPS provides animal control and sheltering for the City; the Township manages animal control itself while LAPS continues to run the Patti Dale shelter for it. Phone LAPS and say which Langley you are in.

Dogs and cats are not always the same answer. Cats are not covered by the City of Langley bylaws; LAPS supports them through donor funding and houses City cats at Patti Dale.

Out of hours. LAPS takes emergency animal control calls 8am–6pm. Outside those hours it directs people to the Langley RCMP, or 911 where there is an immediate threat to public safety.

Checked against LAPS’s own City of Langley service page and the Township of Langley’s announcement of the new agreement on 4 October 2026 — read it yourself. Services and contracts change — confirm before you travel.
