Dog control in Kelowna is a regional service. The city’s own bylaw page sends dog control issues to RDCO Dog Control, and the RDCO’s bylaw establishes the dog pound on Weddell Place.
Dogs and cats are not always the same answer. Dogs. The RDCO service and its pound are for dogs; cats are not part of it. The city does name the Kelowna SPCA for a dog shut in a hot car.
Out of hours. There is an after-hours emergency number, 604-815-6006 or 1-888-670-2417, and an after-hours drop-off kennel at the pound, closed in extreme weather.
Checked against the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s own lost-and-found-dogs page on 4 October 2026 — read it yourself. Services and contracts change — confirm before you travel.
