What to do here

LAPS runs the Patti Dale Animal Shelter in Aldergrove and publishes found-cat and found-dog listings. The arrangement with the two Langleys changed at the start of 2026, so check which Langley you are in before assuming where an animal went.

City of Langley: LAPS provides animal control enforcement and sheltering under contract to the city, with two officers based in the City — 604-857-5055, emergencies 8am–6pm. City of Langley dogs are now cared for in LAPS foster homes or pre-approved boarding facilities rather than at Patti Dale. City of Langley cats are cared for at Patti Dale as part of LAPS’s donor-funded work, as cats are not covered by the city’s bylaws.

Township of Langley: under a ten-year agreement announced in December 2025 the Township manages animal control itself, while LAPS continues to provide animal sheltering at Patti Dale.

Either way, phone LAPS, say which Langley you are in, and check the found listings. Outside 8am–6pm, LAPS directs people to the Langley RCMP, or 911 where there is an immediate threat to public safety.

One organisation is never the whole search

A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
