What to do here
This is the Ontario SPCA’s animal centre for Barrie and district, doing adoptions, surrenders and community support work.
Animal control in Barrie is the City’s. Barrie’s Animal Control By-law 2010-035 gives Municipal Law Enforcement Officers the duty to impound dogs running at large and deliver them to the Pound, and defines the “Poundkeeper” as whoever Council designates or appoints. City Enforcement Services is at 45 Cedar Pointe Drive, on 705-739-4241 — that is the number to call about a stray, and the number to ask where an impounded animal is being held.
We could not confirm from any City of Barrie page who currently operates that pound, so this entry does not claim it either way. This centre’s own page makes the same point from the other side: if you find a stray animal, contact the municipality’s animal control services first.
Worth knowing from the by-law: a dog can be redeemed from the pound within three days, excluding Sundays and statutory holidays. For a cat there is no duty to attend — a resident may contain a cat for delivery to an officer, who may then impound it, and live-trapping a cat is prohibited except for registered charities working with feral or stray cats.
The Ontario SPCA provincial number is 1-833-926-4625.

One organisation is never the whole search
A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
