City of Kamloops Community Services (animal control)
Kamloops holds stray DOGS itself, on a four-day mandatory stray hold, and states that CATS are turned over to the BC SPCA immediately — so in this city the right first call depends on the species.

What to do here
Lost a DOG in Kamloops? Call Community Services on 250-828-3409 or email them, and check the City of Kamloops Lost and Found Animals page. The City states that dogs are held for up to four days on a mandatory stray hold, then kept up to one further week while staff post them to try to reunite them, and only after that transferred to a rescue facility for adoption. Those first four days are the window that matters.
Lost a CAT in Kamloops? The City says cats are immediately turned into the BC SPCA during its operational hours, because the SPCA has proper cat kennels — and it tells cat owners to inquire with that facility. Call the BC SPCA branch first for a cat, and the City for a dog.
To claim a pet you will need proof of ownership, so bring licence, microchip or vet records and photographs. If you have found an animal and cannot reunite it yourself, the same number takes the report, and the City can send someone to pick the animal up.

One organisation is never the whole search
A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
