Hamilton/Burlington SPCA
An independent animal welfare charity for Hamilton and Burlington. It is not Hamilton’s animal control — its own site sends by-law concerns to the City.

What to do here
This is a separate charity, not a municipal service, and it covers both cities — so a pet lost near the boundary only needs one call here.
But if your pet went missing in Hamilton, start with the City. Hamilton Animal Services runs the City’s own shelter at 247 Dartnall Road and is on 905-574-3433, with Animal Control Officer response for dogs at large, animals in distress and deceased animals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The City holds found animals for five days, and up to ten where the animal has identification. The HBSPCA’s own site directs animal-related by-law concerns to that same City number.
One Hamilton quirk worth knowing: the City asks residents not to bring unowned community cats to Animal Services unless they are sick, injured or aggressive. For a healthy loose cat, this charity is the more useful call.
Ask about animals in care as well as filing a lost report, and cover both organisations.

One organisation is never the whole search
A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
