What to do here
This is where an Ottawa stray is held. The OHS operates the Municipal Animal Shelter at 245 West Hunt Club Road under a purchase-of-service contract with the City of Ottawa, and cares for animals brought in by municipal by-law officers and by the public.
The enforcement side is the City’s. The OHS’s own page is explicit: the City of Ottawa’s By-law Services manage stray dogs in the city, and they are reached on 3-1-1. For a lost or stray pet generally, including a cat, the OHS intake line is 613-725-3166 ext. 223 or [email protected].
Under the City’s Animal Care and Control Bylaw a stray is held for three full days, not counting the day of entry or statutory holidays. After that the OHS becomes the legal owner. You can come to the shelter without an appointment to collect a lost pet, and the City sets out what identification you must bring.

One organisation is never the whole search
A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
