What to do here
Animals brought in are scanned for a microchip or tattoo, and the shelter asks to be contacted immediately if your pet is missing. Found animals are held for 72 to 120 hours under the various municipal animal control and impounding bylaws before being put up for adoption.
Its own page directs residents of Victoria, Oak Bay and Esquimalt to Victoria Animal Control Services on 250-414-0233 instead — everywhere else in the region comes here.
The shelter line is 250-658-5745. CRD animal control is a separate number, 250-478-0624, and there is an after-hours emergency line between 6pm and 8am on 1-833-931-3585.

One organisation is never the whole search
A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
