City of Edmonton Animal Care & Control Centre

Where Edmonton's stray and lost pets are held, with a public searchable list of animals in care.

What to do here

The city states it holds animals with no identification for up to 3 business days, and animals with identification for up to 10 business days, before adoptable animals are transferred to the Edmonton Humane Society and other rescues.

That difference — 3 days versus 10 — is the clearest argument there is for a current licence tag and microchip registration.

One organisation is never the whole search

A pet is found by whoever happens to be nearby, so the shelter, the city, the registry and the local search groups each hold a different piece. Work the list rather than one entry on it.
